All these have to be practised and implemented without hesitation, doubt or indifference, but within a deadline.

Visions, wishes, intentions and dreams are all valuable. They spark off imagination and encourage us to define where we want to reach. In order to get there, however, we need to bring life images, down to earth and plan to execute our strategies. The quality and quantity of energy we put forth, directly impact the results. Life is something like a trumpet. If we don’t put anything in, we can’t get anything out.

Success is a walk in the dark. Finding the right footing, precisely mastering the skills and getting to the next place, all depend on how we approach and tackle the problem. The best way to get from where we are to where we want to be, is to find the footing of our next step. When we take the next step, it should support and hold us without a crack.

(ii) If we don’t put anything in we can’t get anything out.

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth, you’ve spoken, Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools :

If you do not appreciate yourself.

You start dying slowly

When you kill your self-esteem;

When you do not let others help you.

You start dying slowly

If you become a slave of your habits,

Walking everyday on the same paths…

If you do not change your routine,

If you do not wear different colours

Or you do not speak to those you don’t know.

You start dying slowly…

If you avoid to feel passion

And their turbulent emotions;

Those which make your eyes glisten

And your heart beat fast.

You start dying slowly…

If you do not change your life

when you are not satisfied with your job, or with your love,

If you do not risk what is safe, for the uncertain,

If you do not go after a dream

If you do not allow yourself,

At least once in your lifetime,

To run away from sensible advice…

25th March, 20XX

Dear Sumukh.

I hope you are fine. I write this letter for a very specific purpose. I want to inform you that the Rotary Club of Nashik is organising a ‘Say No to Plastic’ campaign in our city on 4th April, 20XX.

The campaign has a great significance. Plastic has many demerits as it takes at least a century to get decomposed. It harms marine life whenever it gets in water. As a result, plastic becomes the root cause of disturbance in the entire ecosystem. Plastic bags thrown off carelessly choke the drains, thus leading to fierce floods.

There is a need to fight against this situation. Therefore, the Rotary Club has taken the initiative in this direction and is organising the campaign at 9:00 a.m on April, 20XX. I am going to participate in it and I want you to be there too I hope you are
now more aware of the issue and the importance of this campaign. Waiting for your arrival eagerly.

Yours lovingly.

Subject : Requesting provisions for ‘No Plastic Campaign’.

Sir,

I write this letter to inform you that Rotary Club of Nashik has planned to organise ‘No Plastic Campaign’ in our city at 9:00 a.m. on April, 20XX and we request you to provide some dustbins, brooms, garbage trolleys etc., to make it a success.

Sir, it is well known that Nashik is littered with plastic wrappers, bottles, labels which cause a hazard to our ecosystem. Plastic requires at least 100 years for decomposition. When it gets in water, it harms the marine life. Last year, we witnessed fierce floods and the reason behind were carelessly thrown plastic bags which choked the drainages and caused the floods. So plastic proves to be a great harm to our ecological balance and lives of both human beings and animals. This campaign aims at clearing plastic off the public places and creating an awareness to people about saying ‘no’ to plastic in their daily lives. For this purpose, we request you to provide some brooms, dustbins and garbage trolleys to give a clean look to our city.

I hope you understand the significance of the campaign and will support us.

Yours sincerely,

Anand Jadhav

“Books are our Real Friend”

Honourable judges, respected teachers and my dear friends; good afternoon everyone. I am Anand Jadhav from XYZ school. Today I stand here to express my views on ‘Books are our Real Friends’. I feel that books are not just true but unparalleled friends as they are a perfect window to look at the world around.

Books contain a vast treasure of knowledge and they keep on offering that wisdom to us whenever we wish. We can become learned, wise, sensible as well as practical by reading good books. They help us like a true friend, a true guide and a philosopher. They help us to enhance our personalities.

The knowledge and information gained from books make us confident enough to stand in front of the people and deliver impactful speeches. The wisdom achieved by reading books proves to be helpful in developing leadership qualities in us. Whenever we are alone, books offer us a comfortable company like a true friend.

So friends, let us befriend books to lead happy and successful lives.

Thank you all!

Rocks are not all the same! The three main types, or classes of rocks are sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous. Sedimentary rocks are formed from particles of sand, shells, pebbles and other fragments of material. Generally, sedimentary rock is fairly soft and may break apart or crumble easily. It is usually the only type that contains fossils. Examples of this rock type include conglomerate and limestone.

Metamorphic rocks are formed under the surface of the earth from the change that occurs due to intense heat and pressure. The rocks that result from these processes often have ribbon like layers and may have shiny crystals, formed by minerals growing slowly over time, on their surface. Examples of this rock type include gneiss and marble. Igneous rocks are formed when magma cools and hardens. Sometimes the magma cools inside the earth, and other times it erupts onto the surface from volcanoes. When lava cools very quickly, no crystals form and the rock looks shiny and glasslike. Sometimes gas bubbles are trapped in the rock during the cooling process, leaving tiny holes and spaces in the rock. Examples of this rock type include basalt and obsidian.

Difference between Electric and Non-electric vehicles

There are both electric vehicle as well as non-electric vehicles available in the world. If their functioning is considered, electric vehicles require electric energy whereas non-electric vehicles run on fuels like petrol, diesel, CNG, etc. Electric vehicles are advantageous for preventing pollution. But non-electric vehicles are harmful as they cause a lot of air pollution.

Electric vehicles have very low maintenance and they offer a very high mileage to us. But non-electric vehicles offer us low mileage to us and the maintenance cost for them is very high. Non-electric vehicles are useful as they can run on even rough roads whereas electric vehicles always require good roads. Besides, electric vehicles can only run at a low speed but non-electric vehicles can run at higher speed. Both type of vehicles have their pros and cons but considering the polluted atmosphere of today, electric vehicles should be preferred.

Heavy rainfall disturbs the normal life in Marathwada

Marathwada, September 20XX -From our correspondent

The torrential rainfall for last two days has wrecked a havoc in all parts of Marathwada as the normal life of people got uprooted. Fierce floods are expected to take place if the downpour continued for one more day according to the local authorities. Threat has occupied in the minds of people for whom the situation is very difficult to bear. The normal life is entirely disturbed. Fields and roads are filled with water. People are having problems in accessing basic amenities and their daily routines have come to a halt. Everything has come to a stop.

The authorities feel that if the rains continue for a day or two, fierce floods are expected to take place, damaging the areas and stopping access to provisions completely.

(B2)

Unity is Strength

Once there was a poor farmer. He had three sons. They were tired of their poverty and wanted to become rich quickly. The farmer used to tell them to till their land and earn for themselves. But it was only his youngest son who followed it.

The other two brothers tried to start their own businesses. But they failed and lost all the money invested. The youngest brother tried to convince them about working in the field but they paid no heed. They wanted their father to give them their share of property which they planned to sell and start some new business. In their frustration, the farmer did it and started living with the youngest son happily.

Some months later, the elder brothers lost everything again and felt repentant. The farmer forgave them and narrated the importance of being together. They realised their mistake and started working with their brother. Soon after, they started prospering and bought their sold house back.
